Wood turnings by Thomas Saunders

My order from Tom Saunders of Turnings in Miniature arrived today, which is incredibly quick considering the vagaries of Canada Post :) Aren't they beautiful?  The fruit bowl and platter are from tiger wood -- look at that extraordinary grain.  And the tiny bowl is of "mystery wood",  and I like it all the more for that :)

Thank you so much, Tom!  Your exquisite work will have a proud place in my castle :)

I was surprised too by the speed of Canada post this time with my bowls - usually soooo slow!

  3. Yes, Glenda, for once Canada Post came up trumps (query -- what will Google translate make of THAT idiomatic expression, I wonder? :)

Normally they suck. They're insanely expensive and they suck. Which is a dreadful combination, really. I couldn't believe how quickly a package got from Ontario to Nova Scotia -- it's almost like being in a country with a real postal service!

  4. What beautiful pieces! I have several pieces made by Sir Tom Thumb but none by this artisan--I'm going to have to check out the link! Beautiful!

  5. Oh, my good gracious! That's Tom from our Team MIDS on Etsy--duh! How stupid I can be. Didn't recognize the name as that of his Etsy shop! Yes, one of my goals is to own pieces made by all of my fellow Etsy Team MIDS members. I have a few by some of them but haven't made it around to all!

Yes! Tom's work is fabulous! I cannot sing his praises enough. I've just gotten some hat stands from him, but, I'm terribly behind in my blogging. :(

  10. My ears have been burning all morning!! It's a good job I don't have any hair ... my head wouldn't fit in it!!

Thank You for the lavish praises ... it drives me to do better and makes the hours spent standing in front of the machine much more fun.

I guess Canada Post must have bought another sled dog and changed the sled over to wheels for the summer!!

    Cheers,

    Tom
