Here's what the storeroom is looking like this morning:
A couple of nights ago I made apples and potatoes while watching The Sweeney on dvd :) Here they are in their barrels (I have to paint the iron rings on one of the barrels, but couldn't wait to post ...)
The potatoes are based on the technique Alex Zohar teaches in this video from Victoria Miniland. The apples were made using Sue Creaser's instructions in her book Food displays.

It's all looking good Nina. I love the little "eyes" you've put in the potatoes and the apples look scrummy. I keep meaning to look at the Etsy shop you recommended for the pottery. It fits into the store room very well.
ReplyDeleteAh,I saw the video longer time ago,now after seeing your finished result ,I know I have to try it ;-)!Great how you paint the barrels.Jeannette
ReplyDeleteThanks! I made a lot of apples and potatoes and put the rotten ones (pun intended) at the bottom of the barrel :)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, but this little storeroom is one of my favourite rooms ever -- maybe because it's small? I don't know, but I really like to look at it!
Oh Nina: this storeroom is so beautiful ... I feel a bit 'in awe to see how you're all talented and capable. But I am also happy to see these works and to learn ... Your barrels are too cute and apples and potatoes (at least those that you see!), very well done :-)
ReplyDeleteIts a beautiful room! the barrels, apples and potatoes looks great!
ReplyDeleteA well filled storeroom is a delight to the senses - and makes you feel all autumnal and satisfied!
ReplyDeleteThis one's lovely - I can almost smell it!
This is wonderful. Makes me want to go bake something! :)
ReplyDeleteCia
oh I luv it luv it luv it!!!
ReplyDeletehehehe I made those potatoes but I put too much dark brown in, they looked too funny!
I haven't been back to make any more but yours look fantastic! I just think those apples are beautiful too
Thanks, guys!
ReplyDeleteDeni, I did exactly the same thing :) I had to add more potatoes to the bag to try to tone it down a little!
Nina, I know exactly what you mean when you say you just love this room. I think it is the "kitchen/pantry" thing. It's like how I feel after I finish cleaning my pantry in real life. You just want to sit in there and look at every detail again :). It's also the post-decoration syndrome when you are very very happy with the results. Its an almost inexplicable contentment :). I can tell you feel that way with this room.
ReplyDeleteOh I feel better now then!
ReplyDeletelol, now I wonder if I saved them I could have just left them in the bottom of the barrel and put the good ones on top..... Oh well back to the drawing board or should I say clay board hahahaha!!!!!
Sans: Yes, it's definitely the pantry thing ... you put it well: "inexplicable contentment" :)
ReplyDeleteDeni: I was really glad I had a big barrel to fill up with my rejected potatoes :)
I guess you could fill it up with anything .... then pop those good potatoes on top and glue em in!!!
ReplyDeleteNoone would ever know! lol
I did think about that, Deni :) Originally I was just going to fill the barrels half full of junk and then put finished pieces on top, but I made so many potatoes I decided to go for rigorous realism :)
ReplyDeleteheheheh good girl!!!!
ReplyDeleteyes I prolly would do that too in the end!
I would remember mmm now what did I put in there? lol
Oh, you are sooo talented Nina - and patient too - they are great!
